Bio:

Brian Smith serves as a Therapy Area Head at Novo Nordisk-US, leading a fully integrated clinical operations organization responsible for end-to-end trial execution across the Diabetes and Phase I portfolios. His teams drive operational excellence through cross-functional collaboration with global and local stakeholders, accelerating study delivery, ensuring quality, and strengthening portfolio execution. With more than 30 years of clinical research experience, Brian has held roles of increasing responsibility spanning leadership of clinical trial management functions as well as clinical portfolio management across diverse therapeutic areas, including obesity, liver disease, cardiovascular, CNS, and rare diseases. Brian has also held leadership roles on several high impact improvement projects including large regional integrations, accelerating start-up, optimizing trial closure, and implementing a global strategic Full-Service Outsourcing (FSO) model. Brian holds an MBA from the University of Connecticut and a Bachelor of Science from Rutgers University.
