Bio:
Doug Schantz is a clinical operations executive with over 35 years of experience leading global Phase I-IV programs across oncology, neuroscience, pain, inflammation, cardiovascular, ophthalmology, rare disease, and gene therapy. As Senior Vice President, Clinical Operations at AskBio, he oversees Phase I/II gene therapy programs, leads biostatistics, data management, and medical writing, and manages the Clinical Operations partnership with Bayer.? Previously, he served as Vice President, Clinical Operations at Alexion, guiding rare disease development across multiple therapy areas, and as Executive Director at AstraZeneca, where he led U.S. Site Management & Monitoring for Phase I-III programs, transformed monitoring models, advanced late-phase outsourcing, and implemented risk-based quality management. During 17 years at Pfizer, he held senior leadership roles in Pain and Neuroscience and led the data management organization, building on early career breadth at Eli Lilly in clinical monitoring, study management, NDA coordination, international operations, data management leadership, HR, and cross-functional team leadership.? Doug holds a B.A. in Public Administration (Health Care Management) and Paramedic Certification, and is deeply engaged in professional communities (SCRS, ACRP, SCDM) and industry forums (DPharm, Veeva Summit, Linking Leaders). A committed community leader, he serves as a guest lecturer and advisory board member at Eastern Michigan University, President and coach of the Saline Area Soccer Association (Michigan Soccer Volunteer of the Year, 2021), and Board Member of Saline Area Social Services.
